Yoga inspired by seasonal energy

We practice yoga to connect to ourselves. We practice to find a better, more clear way. We practice to feel more alive; stronger, softer and sweeter. This yoga changes, evolves and shifts. It is circular, but it also moves forward.

Take time to listen to the changes around you, notice what shifts from year to year.  Thank you for joining me on this journey. Thank you for practicing your yoga. Serving your highest needs, and therefore being able to serve those around you. That is what I mean by "serve the spirit."

Each season serves the spirit in its own way

In Winter we slow down, we have more time for creative pursuits, and we also must face darkness. This is a time for introspection and change, but slow, brewing change. Often sparked by a little unease, difficulty and resulting in lesson learning. In Spring we open up, we shed some layers, there is a freedom in the potential for growth, but we can also feel heavy, damp and slow. In Summer, the beauty of nonchalance emerges in many aspects of our being. At all ages we want to play, but we also find time to relax and to simply lay. There is a universal mental excuse to be more free, to work a little less and enjoy life. But Summer can also be too hot, too long and when you have no option to slow down, it can be overbearing. In Fall, we plan, we schedule, and we eliminate what does not work. If it needs to go it gets stripped down, and re-structured. The weather cools, the travel slows, and we feel the sense of hibernation approaching. But it is also a time to stretch things out, to be outside to celebrate the bounty of the environment. Food is full of color, and nutrients and we see life the impending of what is to come.
